AF/AB Series
Agricultural Series Gas-Fired Unit Heaters
Gas-Fired Unit Heaters Certified for Commercial and Industrial Applications and Enhanced for Agricultural Applications
Engineered to excel in the most demanding conditions, our AF/AB Series unit heaters come equipped with enhanced standard features that surpass the competition, making them uniquely suited to withstand the extreme challenges of agricultural environments.
Each unit comes standard with a corrosion-resistant cabinet, ensuring long-lasting protection against moisture and airborne contaminants. Inside, high-quality stainless steel components, including tubular heat exchangers, in-shot burners, and flue collectors, deliver superior resistance to rust and corrosion while maintaining optimal heat transfer efficiency. A totally enclosed motor rounds out the robust design, shielding internal components from dust, humidity, and debris. The AF/AB Series isn't just built to perform, it's built to last.
The Sterling AF (propeller) and AB (blower) series convertible venting type tubular gas-fired unit heaters offer a highly efficient, extremely durable alternative to the traditional clam shell design. These propeller and blower type units combine the latest tubular heat exchanger and in-shot burner technology with the quality and reliability you have come to know from Sterling.
Available in 9 sizes from 100,000 to 400,000 BTUs
Standard Features
Corrosion-Resistant Cabinet
Long Lasting PerformanceTo meet the equipment demands of agricultural facilities, each unit comes standard with a corrosion-resistant cabinet, ensuring long-lasting protection against moisture and airborne contaminants. AF/AB Series unit heater cabinets are built with a state-of-the-art hot-dipped Zinc-Aluminum-Magnesium alloy steel cabinet designed to deliver superior performance and durability in moisture-corrosive environments. The benefits of ZM coated steel jacketry include:
. Longer life than other coatings
. Cut edge rust protection
. Excellent in severe environments
. Cost saving through less maintenance
. Self-healing properties allow potential scratches to have improved resistance to corrosion
Venting Flexibility
Built-In VersatilitySeparated combustion venting configurations should be used where dusty, dirty or mildly corrosive conditions exist, or where high humidity or slightly negative pressures prevail. Notably, the AF/AB Series unit heater is designed so it can be installed in either standard or separated combustion venting configurations right out of the box, without requiring modification to the unit itself. Located on the rear cover panel of each unit, combustion air inlet collars are left open in a standard combustion venting configuration. When set up for separated combustion, combustion air piping is connected to the inlet collars so that the burners, spark ignitor, and flue system are enclosed within the unit, allowing the entire combustion process to remain unaffected by the atmosphere in the space where the heater is located.
Corrosion-Resistant Critical Components
Stainless Steel StrengthAt the core of the AF/AB Series unit heater is a full array of premium stainless steel components, purpose-built to withstand the toughest agricultural environments. By protecting critical internal elements, such as heat exchangers, burner boxes, and flue collectors, against rust and corrosion caused by moisture, ammonia, fertilizers, salts, and cleaning agents, the stainless steel construction ensures long-lasting durability. This added protection not only extends the life of the unit but also maintains high-efficiency heat transfer and reliable performance season after season, providing greater long-term value in the most demanding conditions.
Sealed Protection
Sealed Motor for Maximum Protection and ReliabilityThe AF/AB Series unit heater is equipped with a rugged, totally enclosed motor designed to thrive in the most challenging environments. By fully sealing the motor housing, this feature protects against dust, humidity, and debris that can infiltrate and damage standard open motors. This added layer of protection helps maintain consistent performance, reduces maintenance needs, and extends the service life of the unit - delivering dependable operation even in the dirtiest, dampest, and most corrosive agricultural settings.
